What’s It Like to Work With Us?
Some of you have never done a project in partnership with Capital Landscaping, so we want to walk you through what to expect. Early spring is the best time to get in touch with one of our landscape designers or architects, depending on the type of project you’re pursuing. This timeframe allows plenty of time to design your space or build, and schedule when it will be done. The earlier you start working with us, the earlier your project will be complete, giving you more summer to enjoy it.
After you talk to our staff, we’ll setup a meeting to establish the style you’re going for and the elements you want to include. Maybe you want a fire pit, water feature, outdoor kitchen, or a pergola. Before this meeting, do a little research and gather photos of inspiration to share. This will give your designer a glimpse into your personal tastes.
The next step is for the designer to come look at your space. Seeing it in person shows them the current situation, and helps them visualize the possibilities of the future. After the budget is decided, the designer or architect will take 1-2 weeks to create the designs using 3D schematic graphics. 3D visuals give you a clear picture of your project plans — and build excitement for what’s to come!
After the design is approved, picking finishes is next up. That means paver type, wall type, wood finishes, and kitchen finishes, or plant materials – depending on the type of your project. Making these decisions means we can provide you an estimated cost for your project. Once we review the estimate and design with you once again, revisions can be made. Don’t worry about getting it right on the initial pass since you’ll have time to iron out the details throughout the process.
Then come the last few steps before beginning work on your project: agreeing on and signing a contract, and providing the down payment. These formalities allow us to get you on the schedule, meaning we can give you an approximate start and completion date.
Once we do break ground on your project, there are a few housekeeping items to get through first. The utility company will come out to mark where your gas, electric, and fiber are located, and we’ll prepare the work site for construction. Depending on the plan, work will begin with pouring a foundation, sub base, or other subterranean work. Then, your project will come together from the ground up, moving to the patio, pergola, or kitchen.
Once the project is complete, we’ll do a final walkthrough to ensure it’s exactly how you envisioned. All that’s left to do after that is enjoy your new outdoor space with friends and family. Give us a call at 515-244-2724 to start planning your outdoor sanctuary today. We can’t wait to meet you.
